Welcome to One Car Garage, in which I choose a manufacturer or class of vehicle, and you decide choose single vehicle (no matter how old, no matter how exclusive) to live with for the rest of your life. This is your only vehicle, and all expenses are paid for, including price of entry, insurance, gas, etc.

It's been some time since the last one, I was really hoping Eric would return and do another one of these. Still, I can't just sit around and do nothing.. He did make me his "partner in crime" after all.

SO, today we do Škoda, that quirky brand from somewhere in eastern europe. Some of you may remember all them jokes about this brand. Some of you may remember the Škoda Rapid and others. Rear engined, rear wheel drive family cars that rusted faster than you could say na zdraví. As we all know, Škoda is now part of the VAG Group, and make cars that are more than decent enough.

I'd probably go for the Škoda Superb 3.6 fsi 4x4...

PS. I've got the feeling we've done Škoda before.. I hope I'm just having a Déjŕ vu

I wholly concur. I've the Skoda Superb Combi 1.4TSi in brilliant silver metallic. She drives brilliantly, comfy on long trips, reliable, masses of space and legroom and gadgets that would make the car cost considerably more if on it's stable makes like VW or Audi, etc...

Cheers mate. She's only a 1.4TSi (do I get bonus points for being manual?), but has more than enough to get about. On long steep climbs dropping down a gear is occasionally required. Think we'll go for the 1.6 Greenline next time or the 2.0TDi. Who says luxury has to be expensive.

Since this is Oppo (and a fair bit of us are 'murican) you shall have bonus points for it being manual (as a fellow European I'd rather deduct points if it was an auto). I've only driven the 1.4TSi, but damn that little engine does deliver.

The only words I could recognize is Mlada Boleslav (Lada Borettslag), which is the city that is pretty much the home of Skoda. Very cool driving though, I wonder if some of it was by John Haugland.
